Haha, nice. I am all for "making it work", and using what's available!....That being said, that's got to be the worst I've seen. =)
ReplyDeleteDon't feel too bad-I'm currently building a set using Warhammer 40k figurines, re-purposed and painted according to correspondence, with the different Races divided up elementally by their humours.....Dreadnaughts for Castles, Terminator Marines for knights....and I'm almost certain it's blasphemy. I bet it still works, though.(I'm betting you're as big a nerd as I am, and have some idea of what I'm talking about!) We'll see.
I find the Warhammer 40k figures and mythology to be deeply evocative, and I'm full of unhealthy curiosity about whether I can use that deep connection I have with them to enliven the figurines and make them work magic. I'm theorizing that using the myth traditions I'm familiar with will be just as effective-if not more so-than using the classical Egyptian myths, which exist for me solely in magic, and not the heart. If that makes sense.
Not something I would ever instruct my students to do, but I think a little careful experimentation is good for magic of every sort.
Nice post Morgan!

Morgan,
ReplyDeleteOne could even say that you are on the very cutting edge of modern art ;-). I like them.
AIT: I will admit that I have considered obtaining some 40K figures to build a set with.
ReplyDeleteKate: Hmmm, I did not think of labeling them modern art...I am not sure where the edge is in that field. Is that anything like the circle of coolness that Eddie Izzard does a bit about in his act?
Looking good to me, bro.. :)
ReplyDeleteThat being said, enochian chess is something that intrigues me a lot, so.. This is exactly something i would do :)
At least you are doing something, hmm, I think I might rip this idea off...
ReplyDeleteActually, I am hoping to see this concept spread out into the Golden Dawn community (provided of course, that I am credited with doing it first). In a couple of posts, I am going to be talking about why I think a set like this is a goood thing to own. (Unfortunately, my next post is going to be about a copyright violation.)
ReplyDeleteyou know that you can push this a bit further and buil a whole meditation system around each piece- as the colours look like movable tattwas - meditation in motion
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I did not think about the tattwas in connection with these. Cool idea. :)
