Car charms (new item on Khari's Wiccan Treasures)

Khari now has car charms (amulets/talismans) available on her Khari's Wiccan Treasures Etsy page.

The latest car charms that have been completed, including a few moon charms.

Originally, they started out as Christmas and Yule ornaments, then became Wiccan and pagan holiday ornaments. and then I decided that I wanted to hang one in the car--hence the car charm label.

Some of them are priced at $15 USD, and others at $20 USD, plus shipping and handling.

Each charm consists of a ceramic piece, with a design on one side (they are hand-stamped, so it is impossible to do the pattern on both sides), glazed and fired, combined with beads and/or small crystals on a copper wire link, and hang from a ribbon.

Khari also labelled them "prayer charms"--and they have their own little section in her Etsy shop. 

Custom made Altar sets available for Wiccans and pagans (and maybe magicians)

Fans of my wife's pottery--rejoice! My wife has finally opened the door for you to order a custom made Altar set which includes a chalice, an offering bowl (plate), a cork jar (for herbs or aromatherapy), and an incense burner cauldron with a beaded copper handle and charm. By special ordering the complete set, you can have all the components match in color and style.

Colors available are white, black, cobalt blue, green, brown and purple.

(Please note that potters have a limited color palette, due to the chemistry and physics that underlie the kiln firing process. What you see in her Etsy shop is what she can do---colors outside of this limited palette are unavailable.)

The reason for the new Etsy shop is so that she can cater more to those customers who practice Wicca, paganism, and/or magic without offending more mainstream customers. (Let's be honest--we all know that there are those people who assume that Wiccans, pagans, and magicians are Satanists and deserve to be stoned---and not in the good sense of stoned.)

And honestly, for years, I have been telling her that she has been leaving money on the table by not having a wider selection of "magickal" styled goods on Etsy.

But I also understoond her reluctance to the idea. After all, I keep some of my writing under a completely different pen-name, so not to upset some of the people who would frown on the fact that I used to write erotica.

Another item that I was taking photos of were a new butch of small cork jars that my wife hand-throws on the potter's wheel. Personally, I use these types of jars to store incense and for spirit bottles. I know that one of the local pagans uses them for magical oils.

Now, I like this photo--my wife doesn't. It was an experiment. One of the difficulties that I have taking photos of her pottery is that the glaze is so shiny, and occasionally the camera I am using has a difficult time recording the true color of the glaze. So in this photo, I was experimenting to see if a white background would help. My wife disapproves of the picture because I used wrinkled paper. *sigh*

Cobalt blue mortar and pestle.

The last couple of days, I have been taking pictures of pottery that my wife is putting up on her Esty--Celtic Soul Jewelry and Pottery page. Today, she posted five new mortar and pestles (various colors). My personal favorite this bunch of photos (of the mortars that is) was the cobalt blue mortar and pestle against the purple background. For those who have not heard me cuss about it, the cobalt blue glaze is really shiny and hard to take good photos of (especially if I am trying to show its actual color). This shot actually shows you its actual color, so I am very happy with the photo. This particular cobalt blue mortar and pestle is available for $19 (American)--though she did not use this photo on the sales page. (We seldom agree about the photos which should be used...but that is a post for another day, isn't it?)

I do not need to promote your stuff (open letter)

Today, I recieved one of those emails that makes one firmly believe that some people do not understand the Bill of Rights. Basically, I had someone complain because earlier this year, I choose not to promote their stuff. They are now up to the scream that says that I am denying them their right to free speech.

Let's be clear. The only person who has the right of free speech on a blog is the blogger(s) themselves. Everyone else is free to set up their own blog, fanpage, or website, publish their own ebooks and printed material. You have the freedom of speech (provided that you are not advocating crime) to say wherever you want on your own platform.

And me refusing to advertise your stuff is not denying you free speech. Let's be clear--you and I are rivals (more or less). You would refuse to advertise my events on your platform because it is not in your best interests to do so. I am merely making the same decision. You have your own platform to get the word out--use it. Quit trying to subvert my platform for your own purposes.

(For the record, there are some things that I do have to advertise--my wife's pottery is one of them. But let's be clear about the difference--her success affects me...in a positive way. On that note, my wife has recently put up a brown [rust colored] mortar and pestle on her Etsy site.)

New pottery available

Last week, my wife completed some more pottery. This batch included several corked herb jars, as well as a half dozen mortar and pestles. All of these are available for purchase through her Etsy store--Celtic Soul Jewelry and Pottery. At the moment, she is only able to sell stuff to those living in the United States and Canada (someday, we hope to overcome the international shipping problems).

The first video here is two of the small corked herb jars that my wife makes. They are glazed with Oasis Blue and decorated with small jars.

The second video is of two Cobalt Blue Mortar and Pestles. They are food safe, as well as dishwasher safe. My wife has been making mortar and pestles for fifteen years. The mortar and pestles are very durable--I had one that was ten years old (before a certain cat decided to break it). She has several different glaze colors available.

My personal opinion is that a person should have three mortar and pestles: one for food safe herbs; one for poisons (anything that you are not sure about--non-cooking herbs); and one for resins (I prefer smooth bottomed mortars for resins, but have also used grooved for things as Temple Incense).

Announcement: My dear wife has finally started to put some of her wheel thrown pottery up on her Etsy site: Celtic Soul Jewelry and Pottery. I am not sure what she will have up by the time she goes to bed tonight, but so far she has two cork jars and a royal blue mortar and pestle up.

(This post was pre-scheduled---my plan is to get off the computer and go do some of my homework, which is why I can't give you the final tally of what she now has available.)

One of the interesting things that I have discovered (by sitting on the sofa when my wife looks around at the pages of other Etsy artists) is that there are pagans, Wiccans and witches selling handmade craft items on Etsy. Like this set of wall hangings for the Sabbats by Every Witch Way. Makes me wonder if I could sell my hexsigns on Etsy (as if I actually have time with all the other projects on my desk, right?).
